The attention of Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole has been drawn to a false statement circulating on social media concerning the APC primary election in Delta Central Senatorial District.
The statement, captioned “2027: Oshiomhole blasts Oborevwori, Sheriff for fighting Omo-Agege against choice of Urhobo”, falsely claims that Senator Oshiomhole accused the Governor of Delta State of participating in a conspiracy to sabotage the emergence of an Urhobo man as Senate President. This claim is entirely false and should be disregarded by the public.

For the record, Senator Oshiomhole did not make any statement whatsoever regarding the APC primary election in Delta Central Senatorial District. Having known Senator Ede Dafinone since his tenure as Governor of Edo State and now serving alongside him in the Senate, Senator Oshiomhole is fully aware that Governor Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, Senator Dafinone and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege are all proud sons of Urhobo land. He equally recognizes the political maturity and sophistication of the Urhobo people, who are well capable of determining who should represent them at every level of governance.
Indeed, following the successful conduct of the APC primary elections, Senator Oshiomhole personally called Governor Oborevwori to congratulate him on the peaceful and orderly exercise, just as he did with several other governors across the South-South region.

We therefore urge bloggers, commentators and social media users to verify facts before attributing statements to public figures. Individuals dissatisfied with the outcome of any primary election should openly own their opinions rather than falsely and maliciously attributing them to Senator Oshiomhole.

For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole remains an unwavering advocate of the democratic principle of “One Man, One Vote” and firmly respects the right of citizens, irrespective of political affiliation, to freely choose those who represent them at all levels of government.

Signed:
Hon. Victor Oshioke
Chief of Staff to H.E. Senator Adams Aliyu Eric Oshiomhole, mni, CON.
