Today we celebrate an enigma, Senator (Dr) Michael Opeyemi Bamidele. All glory to God Almighty for this day.
To many people he is just a simple God creation, to others he’s a politician and Senator, yet, to many of us he’s an embodiment of humility, fear of God and a true leader. Not a Leader in terms of his role in the Senate alone, but a Leader in all ramifications. I remember Opeyemi being called Leader as far back as when he served as Special Adviser to the then Lagos Deputy Governor, Chief Femi Pedro. So becoming the Leader of the Senate is not by accident but by the divine ordinance. He has always maintained that cool-headed leadership, inspired obviously by his deep faith and love for humanity.
MOB as we all fondly call him has never been known to publicly display anger. Rather he is known to always exhibit a calm, gentle, careful and measured personality. A leader that looks out for his followers all the time. He will always retort “Bawo nii, family e nko” whenever he sees you after a while. That alone endears him to people like me because a person that looks out for you and your family’s wellbeing is a LEADER imbued with rare qualities.
MOB is loved by all as his political impacts are felt all over Nigeria especially in Lagos and Ekiti States. He is intelligent, strategic and bold in decision making. He is always ready to stand for justice, fairness and peace. A true virtue of a leader and an Omoluabi.
Today 29th July, 2026, as he celebrates his 63rd Birthday, I pray that God in his infinite mercy will continue to preserve his life, guide him, protect him, and grant him happiness, good health, taking him to greater heights.
