Edo North APC Unites Behind Oshiomhole’s Senate Re-election Bid

Senator Oshiomhole

Iyamho, Edo State — In a unified display of party strength and strategic foresight, the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in Edo North Senatorial District has officially endorsed Senator Adams Oshiomhole for a second term in the Nigerian Senate. The decision comes as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections and reinforces Oshiomhole’s pivotal role in national and regional politics.

The endorsement was unanimously declared during a high-level APC caucus meeting held in Iyamho, the Senator’s hometown, immediately following a regional security summit convened with Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

In a statement released by Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah, Media Assistant to the Minister of Regional Development, the endorsement was described as “closing the chapter on internal debate regarding the Edo North Senate ticket,” signaling a unified front within the party.

Among the notable stakeholders in attendance were Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh; former Minister of Budget and National Planning, Clement Agba; APC elder statesman Chief Francis Alimikhena; political strategist Dr. Blessing Agbomhere; Hon. Dekeri Anamero; Chief Abu; Chief Ohimai; and Ernest Umakhihe.

During deliberations, Engr. Momoh posed a critical question concerning Senator Oshiomhole’s continued service in the Senate. The response was immediate—a resounding and unanimous chorus of affirmation from all present.

In a symbolic declaration of solidarity, the APC leaders echoed the sentiment: “No vacancy in Edo North Senate seat.”

This endorsement is widely regarded as a strategic move to ensure legislative continuity and strengthen Edo North’s representation at the federal level. Senator Oshiomhole, a former Edo State Governor and one-time APC National Chairman, has earned recognition for his outspoken legislative advocacy and impactful contributions in the Red Chamber.

“Senator Oshiomhole has shown unwavering commitment to the development of Edo North and Nigeria at large. This endorsement affirms our full confidence in his leadership,” said one senior APC stakeholder.

Earlier in the day, APC leaders had joined Governor Okpebholo at a security summit addressing rising criminal activity across Etsako, Owan, and Akoko-Edo regions. The summit resulted in a proactive security roadmap that includes enhanced surveillance, local policing structures, and coordinated inter-agency response mechanisms.

Governor Okpebholo concluded the event with a call to action:

“We must secure our communities before we can achieve meaningful progress. Today’s summit sets the groundwork for a safer Edo North.”
