The Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, has expressed sadness over the death of Dr. Bruno Oshiotse Oshionebo, Founder and Medical Director of Oshio Hospital, Afowa-Uzairue, and a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uzairue.
Dr. Oshionebo, who died on October 3, 2026, was 66.
In a condolence message, Oshiomhole described the late doctor as a committed Christian who devoted his life to serving God and humanity, particularly through his care for the sick and needy.
He said Dr. Oshionebo was known for placing the preservation of human life above financial considerations, noting that he often treated patients who could not afford medical bills. According to him, testimonials abound of several instances where the deceased performed emergency surgeries on patients first, before considering their ability to pay.
Oshiomhole also described Dr. Oshionebo as a peace-loving politician and consensus builder who worked for the unity of the party and the interest of the people.
The Senator recalled that, while serving as Governor of Edo State, he appointed Dr. Oshionebo as Caretaker Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council, where he served meritoriously.
“On a personal note, I have lost a trusted political ally and adviser. He was one of the few persons whose counsel I respected because of its genuineness and lack of bias,” Oshiomhole said.
He noted that despite his failing health, Dr. Oshionebo continued to provide leadership and counsel as Uzairue APC leader.
Oshiomhole further asserted that the late doctor’s legacy of selfless service, compassion for the vulnerable and commitment to the unity of his community and party would remain an enduring part of his memory.
“His departure has created a void that will be difficult to fill. I pray that God Almighty will grant him eternal rest and give his family, friends, political associates and the people he served the strength to bear this painful loss,” Oshiomhole said
Oshiomhole specially condoled with his wife, Mrs. Roseline Oshionebo, the Oshionebo family of Afowa-Uzairue and the Edo State APC, describing his death as a great loss.
He prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and for God to grant the family the strength to bear the loss.
