Former Governor of Edo State and Senator representing Edo North, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, describing it as a painful national loss and a stark reminder of the sacrifices made by Nigeria’s armed forces.
In a condolence message made available to the press through his Chief of Staff Hon Victor Oshioke, Oshiomhole extended his heartfelt sympathies to the immediate family of the late General, the Nigerian Army, the people of Warake community in Edo State, and the nation at large.
Brigadier General Braimah, who served as Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade, lost his life in the heat of combat while actively coordinating efforts to repel militant attacks on a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State.
Reacting to the development, Oshiomhole described the late officer as a gallant and dedicated soldier who demonstrated exceptional courage and commitment to duty.
“The death of Brigadier General Braimah is a painful reminder of the sacrifices our men and women in uniform make daily in defence of our nation. He was a patriotic officer who led from the front and remained committed to safeguarding the sovereignty of Nigeria,” he said.
The former Nigeria Labour Congress president noted that the fallen general paid the ultimate price in service to the nation, adding that his sacrifice would not be forgotten.
“He died a hero, embodying our collective resolve to confront insecurity until victory is achieved. His courage and selflessness will continue to inspire both his colleagues in the military and the nation at large,” Oshiomhole stated.
He urged Nigerians to continue to support the armed forces in their ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity across the country, emphasizing that the responsibility of ensuring national peace and stability must be shared by all.
Oshiomhole also commiserated with the Nigerian Army over the loss, especially given the calibre of leadership the late Brigadier General represented.
To the bereaved family, the senator offered words of comfort, encouraging them to take solace in the honour and legacy left behind by their loved one.
“No words can truly ease the pain of such a loss, but I urge the family to find strength in the knowledge that he died honourably in the service of his fatherland,” he added.
He concluded his message with prayers for the repose of the late general’s soul.
“May Almighty Allah grant him Aljannah Firdaus and grant his family, colleagues, and the entire nation the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” Oshiomhole said.
