June 13, 2025, is the second anniversary of Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole’s inauguration as the Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District.
Halfway into his first tenure in the Red Chamber, Oshiomhole has proven to be an outstanding first-time legislator whose performance rivals that of any seasoned lawmaker who has ever occupied that seat. His remarkable achievements across legislative advocacy, constituency development, empowerment programmes, and infrastructure delivery have made a lasting impression not just in Edo North but across Nigeria.
Senator Oshiomhole has established himself as one of the most resourceful parliamentarians of the 10th National Assembly. His contributions on the Senate floor have consistently been incisive, informed, articulate, and solution driven. His motions and debates often form the basis for national policy direction, with particular focus on development, security, and the welfare of Nigerians. These attributes earned him a place on several high-level ad-hoc committees, including the committee investigating the importation of adulterated petroleum products and the one overseeing the emergency rule in Rivers State. This is apart from his membership of 16 other standing committees.
Over the past two years, Oshiomhole has actively participated in over 250 committee meetings and undertaken more than 30 oversight visits to federal institutions and project sites, including the visits to formations of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NSCDC, Federal Fire Service, Nigerian Correctional Service, and strategic infrastructure locations such as the East-West Road in Rivers State and the Benin-Auchi-Okene-Lokoja Expressway etc.
In the area of constituency empowerment, Senator Oshiomhole has delivered six comprehensive training and empowerment programmes under the 2024 budget. These programmes benefitted a total of 955 Edo North residents and were tailored to address the specific needs of women, youths, farmers, teachers, and security personnel across the six local governments.
Highlights include:

On legislative advocacy, Senator Oshiomhole has sponsored important bills and motions, including:
1. Federal Medical Centres Act (Amendment Bill, 2025) Passed by the Senate and awaiting concurrence and Presidential assent for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Edo North.
2. Fire Rescue and Safety Services (Establishment) Bill, 2023, aimed at repealing the outdated Fire Service Act and modernizing Nigeria’s emergency response framework.
3. A motion urging the federal government to mobilize contractors to the site along the Benin-Auchi-Okene-Lokoja Expressway.
4. A motion demanding security intervention in Edo State to counter banditry, terrorism, and herdsmen attacks.
Beyond legislation, Senator Oshiomhole has been vocal about the security challenges in Edo North. On April 21, 2025, he convened a stakeholders’ meeting on security in the district. Held in Auchi and presided over by the Edo State Governor, it brought together traditional rulers, community and religious leaders, youths, women, security personnel, and politicians across party lines. The forum produced far-reaching resolutions now being implemented to improve security.
Beyond that, he holds periodic consultations with several heads of security agencies to explore ways to ameliorate the security challenges of Edo North.
Senator Oshiomhole has consistently emphasized that his priority is projects that serve the greater good, meet the best standards, and stand the test of time. His vision aligns with inclusive development, where rural and urban communities alike benefit. As governor, he set a record and established a standard. As Senator, he is building upon that record and maintaining that standard. From Auchi to Igarra, Eme-Ora to Agenebode, Fugar to Ibillo, and Ozalla to Anwain, his projects are impacting lives.
One project which is dear to the senator’s heart, but which he has not yet accomplished because of the limits of his constituency budget, is the Ubiane road, which he publicly promised to fix during the 2023 campaign. The Senator has held conversations with state and federal government agencies on the subject and received credible assurances that construction work will commence on the Ubiane-Aviele road during the period of his first tenure in office. It is a promise he made, and it is a promise that will be fulfilled.
As he enters the third year of his Senate first term, Oshiomhole has assured constituents, especially those yet to benefit, not to lose hope. Every community will be touched, and as many individuals as possible, it will be employed and empowered. He will continue to explore all avenues to serve the interests of Edo North people. His doors remain open, and channels of communication between him and the people are being expanded.
In just two years, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has raised the bar for what it means to be a representative of the people. His impactful presence in the Senate and across Edo North underscores his enduring legacy of service, development, and fearless advocacy. For the people of Edo North, hope is renewed, and the future indeed looks brighter.
