I received with profound sadness and a deep sense of personal loss the news of the passing of Chief Dan Osi Orbih, a distinguished son of the MCK Orbih family of Ogbona Community, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
Dan was a man of many parts, a respectable politician, accomplished businessman and devout Christian of the Catholic denomination, whose life reflected a genuine commitment to his faith, his community and the advancement of his people.
Through his political engagements, business investments and extensive personal relationships, Dan contributed immensely to the development of Afenmailand. He was a man who believed in the potential of his people and consistently deployed his resources, influence and goodwill in ways that promoted progress and strengthened the bonds within our communities. Dan was very principled, stood his ground in defence of his beliefs but was ready to extend a hand of fellowship across the political aile for the benefit of his people.
For me, however, this loss is deeply personal. I have lost a brother and friend of more than four decades. Over the years, we shared moments of political engagements, friendship, laughter and reflection. Only recently, we sat together with other friends and had a good laugh as we reminisced about the good old days and the journey we had travelled. Little did I know that perhaps one of our last meetings was already upon us. That memory has now assumed a significance I could never have imagined.
Dan came, he saw, he gave his best and he has departed. What he leaves behind is more enduring than material possessions: a good name, cherished relationships and a legacy of service and contribution that will remain in the memories of those whose lives he touched.
On behalf of my family and the good people of Edo North Senatorial District, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his beloved wife Florence, his children, the entire MCK Orbih family of Ogbona, his friends, associates and political colleagues, and the entire people of Edo State on this colossal loss.
May the Almighty God comfort the family, strengthen all who mourn him, and grant the soul of Chief Dan Osi Orbih eternal rest in His bosom.
Senator Adams Aliyu Eric Oshiomhole, mni, CON
(Edo North Senatorial District)
